As part of First Step’s 25th anniversary year, we were proud to launch the Next Step Fund, a long-term investment in the future sustainability and impact of the organisation.
Established as an endowment-style fund, the Next Step Fund has been created to help ensure that First Step can continue responding to the growing and changing needs of the community for decades to come.
For 25 years, First Step has evolved in response to the realities faced by the people who walk through our doors. We have consistently adapted to meet gaps in the system and provide care that is flexible, connected and person-centred.
The Next Step Fund reflects an understanding that this work requires not only commitment and innovation, but long-term stability. It represents a shift toward building enduring financial foundations that will help sustain and strengthen First Step into the future.
The launch of the fund formed part of a broader 25th anniversary celebration with major donors and supporters - an opportunity to acknowledge the many individuals and organisations whose generosity has helped shape First Step over the years.
The evening also featured the premiere of a short video reflecting on First Step’s history and the vision behind the Next Step Fund.

Throughout the evening there was a strong sense of shared investment in the future: not only in First Step as an organisation, but in ensuring future generations can continue to access the support and care they need.
As First Step looks ahead to the next 25 years, the Next Step Fund represents both optimism and intention, and a commitment to ensuring that the organisation can continue evolving, responding and advocating well into the future.
