First Step funded for Complex Mental Health

Staff at First Step are poised to commence implementation (Dec 1) of a major government tender to provide Mental Health Integrated Complex Care (MHICC) for the whole of the City of Port Phillip.  This tender is ideally suited to First Step’s great strengths of non-judgement, internal collaboration, team care and our team of highly qualified, experienced and motivated mental health professionals.

The MHICC team will include GPs, Mental Health Nurses, Care Coordinators, Psychology and Psychiatry, all of which will be provided on site at First Step free at the point of delivery.

The MHICC program is part of the South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network’s (SEMPHN) Stepped Care model of mental health care which aims to be person-centred, effective, flexible, efficient, timely and coordinated. Stepped Care is targeted towards vulnerable groups (migrant communities, ATSI people, people at risk of suicide and others) and people who cannot afford to pay for their own care.  To refer a client or patient to the MHICC program or to self-refer please contact SEMPHN on 1800 862 363.  As always, call 000 in an emergency.

First Step is delighted to partner with SEMPHN on this all important program and in service of our local community.
